Immolate
Hastily put together in roughly 8 hours of the 48 hour GMTK Jam for 2021, I wanted to make something simple that I could complete for both my first jam, and first fully formed game creation. Your own life force is linked to your abilities to keep yourself alive, so you must balance using them to avoid obstacles while not drawing too heavily on your own health that you perish in your attempts to maintain it.
Controls: The only gameplay button is the spacebar or left click on the mouse. For the downloadable version, the game screen's size can be adjusted with the 1, 2, and 3 keys.
Immolate is an endless runner where you can score points for staying alive, destroying obstacles or collecting Flame.
Attack to take out multiple targets by jumping again as you ascend. Jumping as you descend will perform a Double Jump. Both of these actions drain your lifeforce, Flame. Be careful not to draw on your own lifeforce while in critical condition, as the results can be dire!
Your body can store a maxmimum of three Flame at a time, however collecting further Flame will give you points so aim to grab as many as you can.
If you hit a Barrel or a flying Robot, you will damage your lifeforce losing one Flame. However, the lower your Flame, the faster you travel and the more points you will receive. Try to spend your lifeforce to get the highest score, without putting yourself past the edge!
Score Guide:
Collect Flame = 200 points before modifier
Destroy Robot = 50 points before modifier
Destroy Barrel = 20 points before modifier
Additional points are gained while having 2 or less flame, the greatest being while you have zero Flame
